ModWatch: Nehrim

3 years after the release of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and it looks as if we’re 11finally   going to get a decent mod which promises more than realistic water or a colour map. This mod, is from German developer SureAI who have managed to fit, into their free time, the development of an awesome looking mod. It promises a map of comparable scale to Oblivion’s, with comparable amount of gameplay. Oh, and it’s more RPG oriented than Oblivion…

They are building a new universe from scratch, complete with it’s own lore, creatures and landmass.  It’ll feature it’s own soundtrack, professional voice acting and a main quest which lasts “at least” 20 hours. There’ll apparently be plenty of side quests to keep you occupied, as well as Dungeons which are promised to all be individual and original (unlike the repetitive dungeon-crawling of Oblivion) and will feature unique items, characters, quests, design and bosses each to give you reason to explore everything in the developer’s world.

The game is reportedly around 65-75% complete. The German version will be developed as first priority, with the English version trailing behind. The German version features local TV voice talents and general decent voice acting from talents who are interested in the game and hopefully the game will go for the English version. you can even audition yourself if you’re interested!

We’ll be keeping a close eye on this very promising mod. As you’ll be able to tell from the screenshots, the variety of environments is immense and it’ll definitely give us a reason to dust off our rusty, old copies of Oblivion.
