For King or Country is a total-conversion for British RTS, Medieval 2: Total War. Only fitting then, that somebody releases a modification emphasising an important part of Britain’s intricate history; The English Civil War.
This Medieval 2: Total War modification adds an entirely new campaign, allowing you to side either with the right-wing loyal Royalists, or the democratic Parliamentarians within an accurately realised 17th Century Britain. Unit types, towns, buildings have all been changed to suit the new period of time in which you will play, ensuring an entirely different campaign experience. Battles have changed too, delivering what Total War aficionados may contemplate as a stepping stone between Medieval 2 and the upcoming Empire: Total War with the inclusion of thoroughly reprogrammed AI in order to reflect the new approach to battlefield tactics at the time.
We at GameOnYou wouldn’t of course be talking about this game if we didn’t either anticipate it or highly recommend it and for FKoK we proudly broadcast the latter. Hit the break for the interview with creator, AlphaDelta.

Earlier this month, we told news of an upcoming Oblivion mod with as much heart and ambition as Morrowind, with some added perks introduced by Oblivion’s technology. We have since managed to contact the team behind this promising modification and asked them a few questions.

3 years after the release of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion and it looks as if we’re
finally going to get a decent mod which promises more than realistic water or a colour map. This mod, is from German developer SureAI who have managed to fit, into their free time, the development of an awesome looking mod. It promises a map of comparable scale to Oblivion’s, with comparable amount of gameplay. Oh, and it’s more RPG oriented than Oblivion…
They are building a new universe from scratch, complete with it’s own lore, creatures and landmass. It’ll feature it’s own soundtrack, professional voice acting and a main quest which lasts “at least” 20 hours. There’ll apparently be plenty of side quests to keep you occupied, as well as Dungeons which are promised to all be individual and original (unlike the repetitive dungeon-crawling of Oblivion) and will feature unique items, characters, quests, design and bosses each to give you reason to explore everything in the developer’s world.

I am a big fan of mods… be it store-shelf or low-amateur quality, there’s something about mods which have a different appeal from retail games. There’s a lot more scope for originality… doing things the original developers couldn’t possibly do themselves due to financial or legal restrictions (they wouldn’t sell enough copies of a Half-Life 2 Meets Metal Gear Solid Crossover to cover the cost of covering legality issues). It also produces a game made by fans, with their own interests in mind… meaning something more humourous (albeit sometimes unintentionally) and definitely cheekier than anything made by the bigwigs.
Morroblivion is a fantastic Olbivion mod which allows the player to revisit the dark plains of Vvardenfell - where life is cheap, and loot is abundant… or the frosty forests of Solstheim - where the locals’ hearts are as cold as the land they inhabit (bar Uncle Sweetshare of course; what a gangster) or… the rubbish land of Mournhold, where there’s little to do and much to lament (such as the fact that you’d spent your hard earned on a pathetic excuse for an expansion pack).
