OK, that was a mildly misleading title; but me, apologise? Never! You may, however, have the chance to be in the Guinness book of World Records, if you enjoy dressing up as your favourite game characters. We’ve just received the following press release from the fine folks running the London Games Festival:

Atari have apparently been listening to the criticisms of their much-hyped rethinking of the adventure classic, Alone in the Dark. So much so, in fact, that it looks as if Eden are going to improve the game in several areas ready for the PS3 release.
The following are some of the changes that will apparently be taking place:
- Full 360 degree camera control: enhanced camera controls allows complete freedom of the camera and better handling of third person movement for even more immersive gameplay enabling players to view the fire and mass destruction they are causing in all of its glory.
- Fine-tuned controls: quicker and smoother reactivity of the hero’s movements in third person view increases the pace of the game and makes for faster, reflexive gameplay during tense fighting scenarios;
- Inventory system more accessible: more logical jacket inventory system with the ability to scroll rapidly through the inventory with the D-pad or analog stick to combine objects. In addition, gameplay is paused when accessing the inventory system to allow maximum creativity in combining items to create unique flammable weapons;
- More tips: additional on-screen tips will help players quickly adapt to controls and easily understand how to overcome tricky situations;
- Spectral Vision tuning: a tutorial earlier in the storyline explains the need to burn roots in order to gain spectral vision (a power that grants you the ability to see the unseen) and difficulty tuning means less spectral vision is required to reach the end of the game;
- Improved car dynamics and handling: driving has been tuned with increased suspension and reduced drifting giving overall better handling to make driving a fun walk in the park every time;
- 59th Street level tuning: one of the game’s most exciting sequences just got better. 59th Street has been tweaked for a more satisfying race against the fissure with difficulty tuning, an added checkpoint at Columbus Circle and clear voice directions given by Sarah;
- Brand new thrilling action sequence: an exclusive new sequence has been added in Episode 6 for even more excitement and variety of gameplay in the episode.
This begs the question; how well spent were the gazillions poured out by Microsoft in securing staggered “exclusive” releases, if it gives developers an extra six months to listen to any criticisms, and release a better version of the game on the competitors’ console? Also, with the changes seemingly being so significant, will they be released via a patch for 360 owners?
We can all find out just how improved the game will be when the demo sets PSN alight in early November.
UPDATE: Folks seem to think I’m saying AiTD was one of Microsoft’s paid-for exclusives. It was not. My point was; what does this mean for those games with staggered release dates in terms of developers having an extra six months’ potential development time. AiTD is just an example of a developer having enough time to alter a build between platform release dates.

Koei, creators and long-time milkers of Dynasty Warriors came out yesterday with an announcement I didn’t quite expect. An iteration of Dynasty Warriors on the PSP which might not suck. It contains monsters, which I don’t think anybody was expecting, and looks a bit like Shadow of the Colossus. Good to see they’re doing something a little different from the usual 1v10000000000000000 gameplay though, despite bending our perception of what a Dynasty Warriors game really is.
Strikeforce promises 4-player coop which sounds great if it works, and DLC. It also features weapon customisation and intriguingly drops the special move ability for a Final Fantasy-style power which allows you to summon big-ass monsters once you’ve filled your gauge.
Wait a minute… haven’t we heard all this before on the PSP? Hang on, this is just Monster Hunter Portable with magic! I knew it!

The Tokyo Game Show 2008 is in full swing with the news already pouring out, luckily your friends here at GameOnYou UK, are here to report it to you as it happens.
First off, the “New Xbox Experience”, after lots of speculation about it’s release date, Microsoft decided that they could not contain themselves any longer and revealed that it will hit consoles worldwide on November 19th.
So it may not be in time for the release of Gears of War 2, it arrives in plenty of time for Christmas. If that wasn’t enough, Bungie decided end speculation of their latest project, well, sort of.
Halo 3: Recon, announced for late 2009, will be a Halo 3 adjacent campaign where you will take control of an “ODST”, better known as a “Helljumper”. That is all told us and the video shown didn’t help us find out anything else.
The video for Halo 3: Recon can be found on the Xbox Live marketplace, but we urge you to see it through to the end, it uses the “Keep It Clean” teaser as an intro, causing people to turn off before the good stuff happens.
Keep coming back for the latest from TGS 2008.

Epic are still working hard to make sure their fans have absolutely no complaints by placing a code in every copy of the game that will give you the Throwback map pack for free.
The map pack is a collection of the top 5 favourite maps from Gear of War, which have been enhanced to adapt to the new features and game modes. Epic have also said that they have no plans to release these maps in any other way, so if you’re planning on renting or buying a pre-owned copy, you’re out of luck.
In addition to these maps, Epic are releasing a gold plated Hammerburst for in-game use, but it is only available to gamers that participate in the “Midnight Madness” events. Unfortunately, up to now these events are only being held in Gamestop stores in the US, bad news for us Brits.
We still get our golden lancers with the limited edition though, and the golden variations have no combat bonuses other than making you look like a pimp.

Sainsburys’s today announced plans to slash the price of the 360 Arcade from £129 to £99.97, marking the first time one of the big three consoles have fallen past the magical £100 barrier, I imagine Sainsbury’s will sell a lot of consoles over the next week. For that is all the time you have, the offer is set to end on Oct 12th.
But wait there’s more!
The 60GB 360 and the Wii are also receiving the equivalent discount. The 60GB 360 will be going for £139.97 (which is unbelievably cheap if you ask me) and the Wii for £149.97. Now I’m not encouraging anyone to start a riot, but hurry! I imagine stock will be limited, especially on those pesky Wiis.

If you’re in the market for a new console then it looks like now’s a great time to invest. The Xbox 360 has recently received a price cut, making the basic arcade model a measly £129.99 delivered. To put that into perspective; The Playstation 3 currently costs £399.99 and the Wii comes in at around £179.99.
As you’ll probably be interested in a beefier SKU, the 60Gb Premium model now costs £169.99 (still cheaper than the Wii) and the Elite, £229.99.

During a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, ex-Guns n’ Roses guitarist, Slash, may have revealed some news that Activision may have wanted to keep quiet a little longer.
When asked "as the original guy do you feel more invested in the game?", he responded with
"Well, having the Aerosmith guys do it was very cool ’cause Aerosmith’s one of the bands I was heavily influenced by. And Metallica’s doing it, that’s great. Those are two ones that I think gives it some credibility. And they’re doing a Hendrix one, which is great."
Whether this is definite or just an idea being kicked around the Activision offices is still a mystery, but we hope it is true.
