We know this is relatively old news but HD-DVD is dead, and the arguable victor is Blu-Ray. This is a fact which still seems hard to get around, considering Sony’s reputation for failed media ventures ( with Mini-Disk, Betamax and Discman first coming to mind) It was a big surprise that they pulled through and won the war. I guess it just goes to show that you can’t predict the market. It also shows that Sony has finally learnt from their mistakes and that most PS3 owners have got tired of playing Lair and have had a go at watching Groundhog Day* on their anvil.This is good news for the industry though because Blu-Ray was arguably the better format. It had larger storage space which is what really matters in this age of terabytes and memory sticks. Read more »
