DEMO: Mirror’s Edge.

mirrorsedge

First off, if you haven’t downloaded it, get onto your 360 or PS3 and put it in the queue now. Done it? Good.

The demo came out yesterday for the PS3, and today for the Xbox 360. It features a tutorial level and a single level to play on. The level available is exactly the same level that was playable at the Eurogamer Expo (You can find the entry here), so it begs the question of why they didn’t use the demo that was obviously available at the time.

So, having played through it a few times, I stand by what I said before. The controls were the downfall. Not because they were bad, but because there wasn’t a tutorial or information sheet available for you to read and get the controls. This tutorial level is shipping with the finished product, and it solves that issue perfectly. The combat, whether due to the tutorial, or the development cycle moving along, is sorted. I was doing all sorts to those guards.

Cevat Yerli: Warhead will run on £315 PC!

Warhead Crytek’s Head Honcho, Cevat Yerli revealed to German Games Mag, PC Games that their upcoming Crysis spinoff, Crysis: Warhead, will run on high setting on a €400 computer.

There are many possible reasons for this. One is that what was a £600 computer when Crysis came out would cost about £315 now… if you built it yourself. The other is that the graphics resemble something along the lines of Commander Keen. Cevat continues to say that they will finish (patching) Crysis once they have finished Warhead.

EA set Bad Company free, Hell freezes over

EA have recently announced that they are withdrawing their micro-transaction driven plan for Battlefield: Bad Company. This no doubt comes s quite a surprise to many as they seemed very certain of their £40 now, £40 later DLC scheme and now, in contrast they’re withdrawing all attempts to suck out the contents of your wallet (and soul). One possible reason for this could be Sarcastic Gamer’s boycott initiative, proposing to gamers that they boycott the game unless they omit the controversial pricing scheme. We at GoYuk hope that the latter played a large role in the deconstruction of EA’s money-leaching plot as we were firm supporters of the Boycott (as you may well have heard in our awesome new podcast).

DICE/EA were pretty ambiguous in their retraction, they said to IGN…

IGN: So there’s no charge for the Gold Edition guns?

Karl-Magnus: No, there’s no charge for any of the guns in the game. All of the guns in the game can be achieved without purchasing them. All guns are available to everyone. However, we want to give some exclusivity to those who buy the Gold Edition. They will get the five Gold Edition weapons from Day One when they put the disc in. People that don’t buy the Gold Edition can get the five additional weapons by getting to the final rank in the game. There will be a golden, shiny five-weapon unlock when they hit level 25 in the game.

They don’t seem to definite on this but we’re sure that the Boycott was successful and gamers will be able to enjoy this fantastic looking game without feeling any instance of shame.

Who says a leopard can’t change its spots, eh?

Rock Band: EU Gets official (CRAZY) price and release date….

Lets get down to business, Firstly It will be available on Xbox 360 On may 23rd but gamers hoping to rock out on their PS3’s and Wii’s will have to wait till around summer time…

The initial price will be £130.00 for the instrument bundle which is a little damn pricey as it is but it doesn’t even include the Freaking game, Gamers will have to shell out another £50 quid on top of that just for the game…In my opinion this is bloody ridiculous i mean i could buy an actual guitar and a cheap amp for that price or maybe even an Xbox 360 or a Wii and still have money left over to buy a sandwich…I didn’t know i had to be an actual rock-star to afford this god damn game…

Firstly we have to wait several months for the game to be released over here but then we have to pay a price that is practically double what the Americans have paid, I HATE YOU EA!!!!

Final Say: Import the whole bundle from the US, You will save a lot of money and get it much sooner…

The way of the future? EA confirms its status as a confused conglomerate? Or something more sinister…

EA LogoFollowing on from the news that EA will be charging players per bullet fired in Battlefield: Bad Company (OK, that might be a slight exaggeration, but head over to Sarcastic Gamer for Lono’s rant on the subject), EA seem to be taking an entirely different approach with Battlefield: Heroes.

All along, we have been promised a fun, frantic, accessible but best of all free FPS. This came in to question recently when the dev team mentioned in a magazine interview that they would be shipping the game with just two maps. Speculation and internet fever took over at this point, with many proclaiming that EA would start charging for maps after they’d hooked you in with the supposedly “free” game.

Thankfully, the developers have put our fears to rest with a recent blog post, which states that there will be more maps in the future, but we won’t have to pay for them: “Firstly, we have no plans for selling maps for Battlefield Heroes. Our game design and our business model is designed around the fact that 95% of the people playing the game never pay a penny. We want this to be the best free game experience online and we will be delighted for 95% of you to play the game for hundreds of hours, fully level up your character and enjoy a long expansive experience without spending any money at all, ever.
